National Accounts & Trade Sales Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: (Exempt)

Reporting to VP of Sales, position works closely with Sales, Yield and Marketing, with performance evaluations influenced by success achieved in reaching sales goals. This pivotal role assists in executing the many projects and programs the department develops. Communicates on a regular with top accounts/consortia to execute marketing plans and meet sales goals. Assists in developing US/Canada trade marketing strategy. Liaisons between Sales and Yield team to get relevant offers in support of Sales Goals. Works with Marketing team to ensure production of on-brand materials consistent with those in Marketing. Position requires excellent written/verbal communication skills, and strong account management skills plus knowledge or willingness to learn about product/sales needs in order to execute accurate, relevant messaging. Independently manages own workload and that of Sr. Specialist Trade Marketing to meet deadlines; communicates regularly with Sales and Marketing, working positively and proactively.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • With VP Sales & National Accounts; Sr Director Sales; and Director National Accounts, develops Trade Marketing strategy
  • Oversees execution of Trade Marketing Plans, communicating with National & Top Accounts regarding programs, events, and promotions
  • Coordinates with Yield to provide best possible offers for Trade marketing
  • With VP Sales & National Accounts, creates strategy for Trade Advertising, creating plan and overseeing execution
  • Manages exclusive offers for national accounts
  • Supports Sales Dept marketing
  • Oversees efficient use of the Gage system
  • Drives efforts to garner Trade Awards
  • Manages priorities for Sr Specialist Trade Marketing
  • Independently prioritizes workload using good judgment
  • Travels to visit top accounts and attend conferences, annual Sales Meeting, and Platinum Circle Cruise as requested

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • With VP Sales & Nat’l Accounts; Sr Director Sales; and Director Nat’l Accounts, develops Trade Marketing strategy. Provides insight from results; research/recommends options to achieve goals and solve problems. Collaborates with leadership in developing strategies to achieve sales goals, including developing educational programs, planning partner marketing, and providing consistent agent communications.
  • Oversees execution of Trade Marketing Plans, communicating with National & Top Accounts regarding programs, events, and promotions. Works with accounts from local coop to Nat’l Accounts, concept to completion, ensuring accurate, timely delivery of marketing assets with consistent messaging aligned to Company goals. Maintains schedule of deliverables, aligning to changing marketing goals during the year as needed. Provides input as needed to Sales Budget team to maintain accurate records. Communicates with DBDs as needed to clarify and fulfill needs.
  • Coordinates with Yield to provide best possible offers for Trade marketing, aligning marketing asks to available offers.
  • With VP Sales & Nat’l Accounts, creates strategy for Trade Advertising, creating plan and overseeing execution in support of sales goals.
  • Manages exclusive offers for national accounts, requesting annual dates, ensuring accuracy of build in system and display on collateral, and promoting through marketing initiatives.
  • Supports Sales Dept marketing: discovers needs, responds to requests, and collaborates to proactively provide effective, on-brand, accurate sales tools, and marketing collateral. Liaisons between Marketing, Yield and Sales and others as needed to build strong relationships and provide solutions.
  • Oversees efficient use of the Gage system, ensuring timely loads of flyers/offers; maintaining up-to-date materials including itineraries and sales tools, and developing other materials as needed.
  • Drives efforts to garner Trade Awards. Working with Sales leadership, develops tactics to achieve wins for key Sales awards, coordinating with other business units such as Data team and email marketing as needed.
  • Manages priorities for Sr Specialist Trade Marketing, ensuring deliverables are accurate and timely and aligned with current brand and Marketing directions. Promotes self-reliance and critical thinking in Sr Specialist Trade marketing to achieve independent execution and knowledge of how to execute marketing plans.
  • Independently prioritizes workload using good judgment to achieve goals, maintain schedules, and ensure delivery of materials as needed. Proactively anticipates and works to resolve problems, find solutions, and improve results.
  • Travels to visit top accounts and attend conferences, annual Sales Meeting, and Platinum Circle Cruise as requested to support Sales leadership. Always represents company in a professional and positive way. Supports other programs, requests and activities as needed.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience and demonstrated successful track record working in marketing or sales management.
  • Strong communication skills including good grammar and spelling; excellent attention to detail.
  • Good judgment with business decisions.
  • Able and willing to independently manage and prioritize own workload of multiple projects simultaneously; setting/meeting deadlines and working positively and proactively with all staff; executing tasks timely. Comfortable and willing to work with Sr Specialist Trade Marketing to coach, direct and grow skillset.
  • Knowledge or ability and willingness to learn about product sufficient to drive good marketing decisions and execute relevant copy for sales marketing materials.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, “can-do” attitude with tenacity to find out information with a tactful approach. Proactive, self-starter willing to do what is needed to complete tasks.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and computer skills adequate to easily execute tasks; ability/willingness to learn additional software as needed to execute position and grow.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Business or equivalent experience.
  • Travel industry/luxury experience preferred, knowledge of Viking product a plus.
